The next Martin Duggan Memorial Swim will take place on Friday, 6 June 2014 at Ashe Quay, Fermoy. This page contains an explanation of the participant criteria, the entry fees for this year’s swim, instructions on how to enter and useful downloads.
- All swimmers who have competitive membership of a Swim Ireland-affiliated club or are members of any FINA-affiliated body and will be aged 12 years or older on the day of the swim are eligible to swim once they agree to the Event Waiver (on entry form). While there’s no set qualifying swim, all swimmers should have completed an open water swim of 1.5 km or more in the weeks before the swim.
- In addition to all of 1. above, all swimmers who will be aged 17 years or younger on the day of the swim must have parental consent to swim. The parents/legal guardians of these swimmers must sign the Parental Consent Form and return it to the event director in advance of the swim.
- Swimmers have the option of wearing a wetsuit or not and don’t have to make up their minds until the day of the swim. The expected water temperature will be announced in the email briefing about a week before the swim.
Swimmers who will be aged 18 years or older on the day: €15.00
Swimmers who will be aged 17 years or younger on the day: €10.00
The entry fees cover the cost of running the swim and numbered swimming hats for every swimmer. Any money left over after the all of the costs of running the event have been covered will be donated to the Blackwater Sub-Aqua Club Search & Recovery Unit who are based here in Fermoy.
